Darrell would like to consider himself a bit of a renaissance man, but just at surface level. He's spent many years in the health and fitness industry, having led clubs for some of the leading companies in the United States. He has also been a professional actor in Chicago and in Bozeman, Montana, is an award-winning author, and is now a guy who's going to kick the ass of a rare disease known as Stiff Person Syndrome.
More importantly than all of that noise, Darrell was just enough of a conman to convince his wife Erica to marry him nearly 30 years ago. It was the best con job of his life! They have four, beautiful, talented and athletic kids...that they both would like to kill from time to time, but all in all, are always thrilled to see.
Stiff Person Syndrome, formerly known as Stiff Man Syndrome, is no joke. There may be times when it seems that Darrell is making light of a situation, but it's mostly just to try to get a snicker out of a reader...which who knows if there will ever be.
A message from Darrell: Since this syndrome is so rare, almost no one knows of it unless they've been personally touched by it. Is there a way to get some awareness through this blog? Uhh...beats me. But I'm thinking about doing a few things to bring about some awareness: like a Stiff Person 5K, with some rule changes, of course, like you'll have 3 days to finish the race, and those who finish needing the least bandages from falls receive a special trophy! Truthfully, I'm not sure what type of awareness is out there but I've not seen much. We'll see what I can do.
